This week, CleanSpark had the privilege of participating in two events held by the Chamber of Digital Commerce in Washington, DC.
The first day consisted of the DC Blockchain Summit at the Capital Turnaround, where CleanSpark Executive Chairman Matt Schultz spoke on the “Future of Energy: How Digital Asset Mining Can Advance Energy Development in the U.S. and Abroad” panel. Matt did a fantastic job discussing how bitcoin relates to energy. He even used our energy technology background to compare energy surplus storage in microgrids to bitcoin’s availability for incentivizing and using excess renewable energy from the power grid.
Also at the summit, the chamber debuted a new documentary series, one video of which featured CleanSpark. “The Green Rush: How Bitcoin Is Transforming Rural America” was filmed at our bitcoin mining facilities in Georgia and featured interviews with company employees. It chronicles their stories, details about our operations, Georgia’s nuclear energy offerings, and how the company has benefitted local communities. I’m so excited for the video to be published online so we can share it with the world!
Day two in Capitol Hill was for the Chamber of Digital Commerce’s Blockchain Education Day. The chamber’s team thoughtfully curated a schedule of meetings for attendees based on mining locations and key issues surrounding the blockchain. Congressman Patrick McHenry of North Carolina kicked off the event with a terrific speech. We then met with policymakers to discuss the benefits of bitcoin and encourage clear legislation to help enable mainstream adoption.
I was fortunate to meet with the offices of Senator Jon Ossoff, Senator Raphael Warnock and Congressman Sanford Bishop, all of Georgia. Matt and our chief communications officer Isaac – along with executives from Riot Platforms, Marathon Digital Holdings, Argo Blockchain and Crusoe Energy – met with additional legislators. We were both grouped with other bitcoin mining companies because at the end of the day, we all want what’s best for our industry.
It was truly amazing to catch glimpses of the inner workings of our government. The architecture of the different buildings was beautiful and the number of people (both employees and the public) who were roaming the halls was staggering. Luckily, we had an escort to help guide us around the underground tunnels that link offices across Capitol Hill. There was even an adorable little tram system to help transport people.
Overall, it was such a rewarding two days spent with like-minded people. It shows that partnerships and relationships in general are so important in this world. We look forward to continue providing thought leadership about bitcoin and its benefits while positioning CleanSpark as one of the best bitcoin miners out there.
